Nottingham has seen its fair share of touring musicians in its city with plenty of live music venues providing a rich history of live music.

Rock City

One venue that is packed with decades of history hosting some of the greatest names in rock is the aptly named ‘Rock City’. Looking back David Bowie, The Smiths, Iron Maiden, Guns and Roses, Nirvana and Oasis have all taken stage at the venue firmly placing it as the place to go. With a reputation of providing upcoming bands as well as iconic club nights, live music is firmly alive here. In a rare video interview David Bowie explains why he enjoys playing concerts in smaller venues like the Rock City, describing how the stage dynamics change when playing to a small audience.

The Bodega

Take the word of locals and students, if you want to catch a glimpse of talent before they become stadium performers and festival headliners - ‘The Bodega’ is the venue to hang. Back in the day many lucky gig goers caught Arctic Monkeys, Kate Nash and The Libertines here. A variety of genres are rife in the scene here, ensuring there is something for everyone, offering different genres each night ranging from metal/rock, ska, country and goth.
