With a student community linked into the music scene there are a lot of gig nights that take place within the student venue of ‘UEA LCR’. However, non- students are happily welcomed for gigs and club nights that take place there and this has its benefits of cheap drinks for gig goers. It is a great intimate venue to catch upcoming bands and has previously welcomed The Smiths, Lostprophets, The Kooks and Coldplay.
Waterfront
A live music venue in Norwich that boasts to be the region’s number one alternative venue since 1993 is ‘The Waterfront’. With regular club nights and offerings of both local as well as national upcoming bands it is clear to see why so many locals and students attend this city centre venue. Its previous acts to play are impressive with the likes of Nirvana, Amy Winehouse and Futureheads. If the desire is to get within a closer proximity of acts, then look no further than ‘Norwich Arts Centre’ a converted chapel with lots of intimacy. Named the 2014 winner of the NME award for Britain’s best small venue it boasts impressive artists who have graced the stage such as; Nirvana, Ed Sheeran, Oasis, Muse and Kasabian.
