Last Years Review - Leeds Festival can always be guaranteed to put on some major rock, alternative and indie acts, it's possibly the biggest annual rock music focussed festival in the UK. That's not to say you don't get the occasional DJ act playing lower down the bill now. What's the advantage of going to Leeds over Reading, if you live in the north it's nearer, and less chance of bumping into drunken home counties mud restling students. They always put on impressive headlining acts, in the past Rolling Stones, Oasis, New Order have trod the stages. This year it's the Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Saturday night), Foals (Friday night). Also great acts like Two Door Cinema Club, Biffy Clyro and Chvrches. Also Canadian act Half Moon Run have been making a name for themselves on the festival circuit as well.
Spread across the August Bank Holiday weekend, acts play alternate days in Reading and Leeds, covering the north and south. The festival includes 7 stages with a diverse range of music from the well known, to the up and coming. Fall Out Boy, will bring back some emo memories having be absent of late, the video preview lower down this page features them playing at the recent 'March Madness Festival' in Houston. The Foals are developing into one the greatest and most intense live acts in the UK at the moment. The Foals Glastonburys 2016 performance proved the Oxford band are in Olympian form at the moment, the video preview below was filmed at Reading in 2013, but they've come along way since then.
It's all about the music with Leeds festival, you won't find any tanctric healing fields and other festival activities to loose yourself in, at least they don't sell the festival on the extras, it's the music man, the music that matters.
